Darkness in the Daytime

astronomy, by design, asks for big thinking.

the distance, the scale, the possibilities.

variables are calculated, gravity pulls,
And sometimes, days turn dark.

An owl awakens early; the rooster trots inside.
the streetlights aren't sure what to do.

no moon, no stars, no evening news.
no wind-down, no pajamas, no bedtime story.

When astronomy aligns in such a way
that darkness and daytime overlap,
I smile and walk
in a new direction.
